Iran Press/Iran news: The Iranian president has stressed that the most important duty of the government is to serve the people, ensure their well-being and welfare, and to secure the national interests of the country.
Speaking at a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Hassan Rouhani stressed that the prime duty of the government is to honestly serve the people with the other main objectives of the government being to secure and defend Iran's national interests, raise the standard of living, ensure a healthy and prosperous society, economic growth and prosperity, maintaining Iran's dignity, and promoting Islamic culture in society particularly among young people.
In further remarks, Rouhani said the government is doing its best to reduce the problems faced by ordinary people and is trying to provide more services to the people.
The President added: "The fact that Foreign Minister Zarif travels the world, he goes to Europe, Asia, South America, in just one week he travelled twice to France, is an indication that the servants of the people are trying to secure the interests of the great Iranian nation."
President Rouhani added; "Iran has trade and relations with many countries, we have many trading partners; we are in favor of interaction with all countries which are not hostile towards Iran. Iran's exports are increasing, increasing exports show increasing interaction with the world, we export to many countries, especially the export of hi-tech goods, we have good interaction in science and technology with other countries, young Iranians are studying in universities in many countries and this shows that we interact and cooperate with the world at large. As far as the economy, science and technology, and the arts are concerned, we must interact and exchange ideas with the wider world."
He went on to say: "We must talk to the world and interact with the world, but the focus of our attention should be on internal resources, abilities, and talents. The power and authority of Islamic Iran emanate from its talented people and resources. We must focus on our internal capacities and capabilities."
Turning to foreign policy president Rouhani said: "We must make use of the capacities of Islamic countries, friendly nations, and neighboring countries to secure our national interests."
