Tehran (IP)- In a letter to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran expressed concerns over the French court's decision to uphold the ban on wearing abayas in schools for muslim girls.

Iran PressIran News: A few days before the reopening of schools in France, the country's Minister of Education, Gabriel Attal said in this country, it is forbidden for Muslim girls to wear Islamic abayas in public schools.

Ensieh Khazali, the Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran for Women and Family Affairs, has written a letter to United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Human Rights Council President Václav Bálek, and the Head of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), Mathu Joyini. In the letter, Khazali condemns France's recent actions, stating that they violate individual and religious freedoms and lead to the maximum pressure and persecution of religious minorities.

Khazali added that denying Muslim girls the right to wear the hijab may force them to choose between religion and education, and many drop out of education because of their beliefs, but this restriction contradicts the principle of equal access to education for all.

She emphasized that wearing the hijab for girls is a form of protection against sexual harassment and violence, and according to the teachings of Islam, wearing the hijab is a dress code to respect women and protect their health.

Using double standards is unacceptable and we must use all available resources to ensure equal freedom in the education system, she added.
