Tehran (IP) - The Iranian Navy has dispatched a destroyer to the Red Sea as part of the flotillas that take part in regular missions in international waters.

Iran Press/ West Asia: The Iranian Navy has deployed a destroyer to the Red Sea as part of its regular missions in international waters. The IRIS Alborz, which belongs to the 94th Naval Fleet of the Iranian army, is operating as a military vessel within the 94th flotilla of the Iranian Navy. On Monday, it crossed the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait and entered the Red Sea.

To oversee naval missions in various oceans, the Iranian Navy has established three ocean commands: one for the Indian Ocean, one for the Pacific Ocean, and one for the Atlantic Ocean.

During a meeting with several commanders and officials of Iran's Navy in November 2022, Iran's Revolution leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, emphasized the importance of maintaining and strengthening Iran's presence in international waters. He also highlighted the need for the Navy to enhance its combat capabilities and defense equipment while continuing navigation in remote and high seas.
