Tehran (IP) - Iran’s Foreign Ministry has strongly denounced the recent Israeli airstrike on a tented encampment in southern Gaza, near Khan Yunis, labeling it a blatant violation of international norms and humanitarian principles.

Iran PressIran news: Spokesman Nasser Kan’ani condemned the attack on Tuesday, highlighting the massacre of dozens of displaced Palestinians in the al-Mawasi camp. The early morning assault resulted in the deaths of over 45 civilians, with more than 60 others injured. The use of bunker buster bombs has left several people unaccounted for, their bodies buried in massive craters caused by the blasts.

Kan’ani criticized the Israeli regime for its disregard of legal and international standards, stating, “The terrorist Israeli regime, through its relentless attacks on Palestinian civilians and refugee camps, has once again demonstrated its total disdain for any legal, international, or moral principles.”

He emphasized that the ongoing Israeli genocide in Gaza, alongside the regime’s broader aggression across the region, are clear manifestations of threats to global peace and security, amounting to genocide, war crimes, ethnic cleansing, and crimes against humanity.

Kan’ani called on international bodies, particularly the United Nations Security Council, to take immediate and decisive action under the UN Charter and international law to deter further Israeli crimes.

Reports from Palestinian media indicate that rescue efforts in al-Mawasi are severely hampered, with ambulance and civil defense teams struggling to recover bodies amidst the devastation. The attack is being described as "one of the most heinous massacres in the ongoing war," with witnesses recounting scenes of chaos, fires raging, and Israeli reconnaissance planes circling overhead.

Israel's genocidal campaign against Gaza, which has included strikes on hospitals, residential areas, and places of worship, followed a surprise offensive by Palestinian resistance movements, known as Operation al-Aqsa Flodd, launched on October 7 of the previous year. The US-Isralei genocide has claimed the lives of at least 41,020 Palestinians, most of whom are women and children, and left nearly 95,000 others injured.
