New York (IP) - At the 18th meeting of the foreign ministers of the Asian Cooperation Dialogue (ACD), the Islamic Republic of Iran was selected as the new head of the forum.

Iran PressAmerica: The meeting was held on Wednesday, September 20, on the sidelines of the 78th meeting of the UN General Assembly in New York.

Delivering a speech at the meeting, Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian highlighted the importance of multiclaim and the significant role of multilateral organizations such as ACD in creating consensus among the countries to overcome global challenges.

"A More Integrated and Capable Asia through Emerging New Technologies" was the slogan the Iranian FM designated for this round of the ACD, inviting the member countries of the organization to take part in the next meeting in Tehran in 2024. 

The forum has 35 Asian member countries, and in the last two years' chairmanship was up to Bahrain.

Established two decades ago, ACD's headquarters is based in Kuwait.
