Islamabad (IP) - Iran's ambassador to Pakistan said that Tehran and Islamabad can turn into the gateway connecting East to Eurasia and use this capacity to expand cross-border interactions among Shanghai members.

Iran PressAsia: Speaking on the eve of the meeting of the heads of state of the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Islamabad, Reza Amiri Moghadam, Iran's ambassador to Pakistan, added that Shanghai is a very important initiative for the countries of East and Eurasia, which together can achieve their common interests and confront common challenges.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran became a full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization last year to play an active role in advancing the organization's agenda and sharing its capabilities with other members. The members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization are determined to implement joint initiatives, especially convergence in the region. They have easy access to each other's markets and connecting lines from the east to Eurasia and Russia, he added.
Pakistan is hosting the 23rd meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) on October 15 and 16.
Mohammad Reza Aref, the first vice president of the Islamic Republic of Iran, is traveling to Islamabad to participate in the 23rd meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
