The acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran and the Foreign Minister of China have strongly condemned the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh and called for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

Iran Press/Iran news:  Ali Bagheri Kani, Iran's Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, shared a message on his social media account about a phone conversation with Wang Yi, the Chinese Foreign Minister.

Bagheri stated, "During our conversation, we discussed preventing the Zionist regime's actions from escalating tensions beyond the Gaza Strip through recent dangerous moves in Lebanon, Yemen, and the assassination of martyr Haniyeh in Tehran."Bagheri emphasized Iran's legal right to respond appropriately to ensure regional stability and security.

Both parties strongly condemned the assassination and highlighted the need for a joint international effort to stop the Zionist regime's aggressions in the Gaza Strip.

The Iranian diplomatic chief noted that the Chinese Foreign Minister expressed support for Iran's legal efforts to defend its sovereignty, security, and national dignity.

He also expressed a desire to maintain close contact with Iran to preserve peace and stability in the region.

Ismail Haniyeh, head of the political bureau of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), and one of his guards were martyred in a terrorist attack in Tehran early Wednesday morning (July 31).

Previously, the Chinese Foreign Minister condemned the assassination, stating that the attack was an assault on Iran's sovereignty and constituted a "violation" of fundamental norms of international relations and the UN Charter.
