IP (Tehran) - Kazem Jalali, Iran’s Ambassador to Russia, in an exclusive interview with Iran Press said that Iran and Russia like other member countries of BRICS had been trying to use their currencies in mutual trades instead of the US Dollars.

Iran Press/Iran news: in a ceremony on Monday, The Central Bank of Iran (CBI) says Russia’s Mir payment network will be connected to Iran’s Shetab banking system as the two countries boost their financial cooperation.

By connecting the two countries’ local payment systems, Iranian banking cards can be used at automated teller machines (ATMs) in Russia and every person with an Iranian banking card can receive his funds in rubles from Russian ATMs.

Kazem Jalali, Iranian Envoy in Russia at the ceremony to unveil the connection of Iran SHETAB Banking Network to the Russian Banking System called MIR, said: "Iran and Russia are seriously intending to De-Dollarize and use their currency in mutual trading instead of the US Dollar like other countries in the BRICS block. We are trying to solve to finalize our agreement.

As the Russian deputy vice president said today almost 95 percent of Iran and Russia trade had been done with our national currencies, Roble and Rial, Jalali said.

According to Jalali: In the Banking transaction connection between Iran and Russia Digital Banking Exchange networks including Iranian SHETAB and Russian MIR are very important and the connection of these two networks is very effective in mutual business.

Iran's ambassador in Russia said in the function of the Iran-Russia joint Banking network issues like Markets, Transit, Logistics, Customs, and Bank facilities are very important.

Jalali said that a joint Shetan-Mir Network will be very helpful in the tourism industry.

Jalali further expressed hope that according to a new agreement in the next phase after the termination of the technical procedure, Russian citizens would use their Banking Cards inside Iran through our Banking Shetab System.
