Iran Press/Asia: Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi arrived in Pakistan’s capital Islamabad on Monday morning at the start of an official two-day visit to the southeastern neighbor of the Islamic Republic.
Raisi met with Sharif and detailed the agreements reached between the two sides during the meeting. "Iran and Pakistan share the same stance in the fight against terrorism, and both countries are resolute in combating terrorism, organized crime, drugs, and all forms of insecurity threatening our nations and the region," Raisi stated.
Highlighting the importance of human rights, Raisi emphasized, "Cooperation between the two countries in this regard is a priority at all levels."Despite potential opposition, Raisi expressed determination to enhance cooperation between the two friendly nations, stating, "Some parties may not agree with this cooperation, but what matters is our resolve to promote collaboration between the two countries."To boost trade and economic relations, Raisi announced a goal of increasing the current level by $10 billion in the first phase.
He also viewed the long-shared borders between the two countries as an opportunity to enhance prosperity for the people on both sides. Referring to the struggles faced by Iran due to international sanctions, Raisi expressed willingness to share experiences with Pakistan, stating, "The people of Iran have turned cruel sanctions into an opportunity, using it to advance the country.
"Raisi also expressed disappointment in the international organizations responsible for defending human rights, stating, "What saddens people around the world today is the ineffectiveness of international organizations defending human rights and the Security Council's failure to fulfill its responsibilities." He specifically cited the United Nations' policies towards Palestine as an example of this ineffectiveness.
In a joint press conference with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, stated that both Iran and Pakistan expressed their concern about the killing of the people of Gaza and unanimously condemned Israel, urged the countries of the world to do whatever to end Israeli military aggression as soon as possible.
Shahbaz Sharif emphasized Pakistan does not condition its support for Palestine and continues to cooperate with Iran until the establishment of a Palestinian state with Quds as its capital.
Simultaneously with the visit of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Pakistan, the officials of the two countries signed eight cooperation documents in various fields of trade, science and technology, agriculture, health, culture and legal and judicial issues.
