Iran Press/Iran news: Iran Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Mehrdad Bazrpash, headed to Islamabad as the head of Iran, Pakistan Joint Economic Commission to discuss the latest advancements of the 21st Commission.
On this trip, the talks between Iran and Pakistan will be in the fields of security, trade, oil, gas, energy, and economic development.
Considering the high capacities of the two countries, $10 billion in bilateral trade will be targeted for this trip.
As per the road border meeting at the Mirjaveh-Taftan Border held last year, the development of road transportation is one of the agenda to be pursued in this trip.
It should be noted that the five-year plan for economic cooperation was signed in August 2023 by the chambers of commerce of Iran and Pakistan. The implementation of the provisions of the MoUs for the establishment of joint free zones on the Rimdan-Gabd Border is finalized. Also, the document of the third meeting of the joint investment committee of the two countries which was previously signed is another agenda of the meetings in this trip.
To complete and implement the gas pipeline between the two countries, 950 kilometers of pipelines have been built inside Iran's territory up to the border of Pakistan.
The 100 megawatts increase in electricity transmission to Pakistan (from 100 megawatts to 200 megawatts) is done. The extension of the electricity sales agreement between the two countries was signed in May 2023.
The 21st Iran, Pakistan Joint Economic Commission (JEC) was held in August 2022 in Islamabad headed by the Iran Minister of Roads and Urban Development and the Pakistan Minister of Commerce. 204
