IP - Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty met on the sidelines of the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation's ministerial meeting.

Iran Press/Africa: Abbas Araghchi expressed his gratitude to Badr Abdelatty for their excellent hosting and successful Organization of the D-8 ministerial meeting. He expressed hope that the summit will achieve outcomes beneficial to the countries and peoples of the developing Islamic nations and the broader Islamic world.

The two sides underscored the significant and influential roles of both countries in the region and the Islamic world. They emphasized the need to enhance cooperation among member countries within the D-8 framework, particularly focusing on activating the Organization's efforts in economic areas.

Araghchi expressed hope that Egypt's leadership would further invigorate and activate the D-8 Organization. He also announced Iran's readiness to assist Egypt in this endeavor.

Araghchi and Abdelatty delved into the regional developments, paying particular attention to the expanded aggressions by the Israeli regime from Gaza and Lebanon into Syria. They stressed the critical need for collaboration among key regional players, especially Iran and Egypt, to halt these aggressions and curb rising tensions. Both highlighted the urgency of ongoing efforts to end the violence against Palestinians and expedite humanitarian aid to the vulnerable residents of Gaza.

The 11th Summit of the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation, comprising eight developing Islamic nations, convenes today, Thursday, in Cairo, Egypt. The summit will address economic and political developments and changes across the Islamic world.

The D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation, consisting of eight developing Islamic countries, was established in 1997. The member nations are Iran, Turkey, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, Egypt, and Nigeria. The secretariat of this Organization is located in Istanbul.
