Iran Press/ Iran news: Describing the latest situation of the coronavirus outbreak in the world and in Iran, Alireza Raisi stated in a press conference on Saturday that the death toll and the number of COVID-19 patients in India are high and the Indian mutant virus is still in a state of a flare-up in this country.
The spokesman for Iran’s National Task Force for Combating Coronavirus in Iran added that India had overcome the wave of the British mutant virus but had been replaced by the Indian virus.
"Reducing mortality rates in some countries, such as the United Kingdom, shows that vaccination is effective in preventing an increase in deaths from COVID-19," Raisi said.
The senior Iranian health official also spoke about the situation of COVID-19 disease in the Islamic country, saying that most provinces are in a downward trend and the death toll has decreased.
At the same time, Raisi stated that in the south and southeast of Iran, an increase in COVID-19 has been observed in some cities, and stronger action should be taken in these areas, and if neglected, the Indian mutant virus will spread.
The spokesman for Iran’s National Task Force for Combating Coronavirus said that body approved on Saturday that inter-provincial commuting is prohibited from Wednesday this week to Monday and that heavy fines will be imposed for any travel.
Raisi also said that 3 million and 850,000 doses of vaccines have been injected within the framework of the national vaccination plan, and the daily vaccine injection capacity is 300 thousand doses, which has not been reached yet.
