An incident has been reported aboard the Sahand, a Moudge-class frigate in the Southern Fleet of the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy, while the vessel was docked in the port city of Bandar Abbas in southern Iran.

Iran PressIran news: According to local media reports, a portion of the destroyer went underwater during the incident, which occurred while the ship was undergoing repair operations. The reports indicate that there were injuries as a result of the incident, and the injured personnel have been transported to the hospital.

The cause of the incident is said to be a technical failure that occurred during the repair work being carried out on the Sahand destroyer.

The Sahand is a domestically-produced Iranian naval vessel, commissioned in 2018 as part of the country's efforts to bolster its naval capabilities in the strategically important Persian Gulf region.
