Sarajevo (IP) - The director general of the Mediterranean and Eastern Europe department of Iran's Foreign Ministry met with the Head of the Bosnian Islamic Society, Rais ul-Ulama Hossein Affandi Kavazovic.

Iran PressEurope: According to Iran Press news agency, Mahmoud Heidari, who has traveled to Bosnia and Herzegovina to participate in the 29th anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica, along with Abuzar Ebrahimi Turkman, the Iranian ambassador in the country, met with the Head of the Bosnian Islamic Society, Rais ul-Ulama Hossein Affandi Kavazovic.

Heidari while thanking Hossein Affandi Kavazovic for paying tribute to the late Iranian President, Ebrahim Raisi, the martyred foreign minister, and their companions and speaking at their memorial ceremony in Sarajevo, stressed the Islamic Republic's unchangeable policy toward Bosnia and Herzegovina, and said that Iran supports that country's territorial integrity, peaceful coexistence, independence and sovereignty.

While expressing commitment to the families and mothers of the martyrs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mahmoud Heidari stressed the position of the Head of the Bosnian Islamic Society, Rais ul-Ulama in protecting the interests of this country and the religious and cultural identity of Muslims.

Hossein Affandi Kavazovic also congratulated the election of the new president of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and as the representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina, appreciated Iran's support for the Srebrenica resolution and called Iran a friendly country for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The official ceremony of the 29th anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica will be held on Thursday, July 21, with the presence of officials and political figures in Srebrenica.
