Iran Press/Iran News: Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi on concreting ceremony of the second unit of Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant on Sunday noted that Iran will have 3000 megawatts nuclear electricity by 2027.
Iran's top nuclear official went on to say that the achievement would avoid the emission of 21 million tonnes greenhouse gasses.
Making the remarks during the ceremony to start laying the concrete foundations of the second unit of Bushehr nuclear power plant, the AEOI chief added that Bushehr plant will help the country save $660 million per year.
Commemorating the memories of the martyrs and the memory of late deputy head of Atomic Energy Organization Mohammad Ahmadi, Saheli wished he could be present in the concreting ceremony for he was for he had been a founder of Beusher 1 and 2 reactors.
Describing that each nuclear power plant can stay online for about 60 years and more, Salehi added that each plant costs $5 billion and can return its initial construction costs in six years after becoming operational.
The Iranian official also informed that Bushehr plant, which is safe and secure, can provide local residents with 200,000 to 400,000 cubic meters of potable water in the future. Talking about the reason why Iran is emphasizing the nuclear industry, Salehi referred to remarks of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei when his eminence had described two characteristics for the nuclear industry.
The two characteristics are as follows: It is considered as the right decision for providing the energy for the next generation which should be considered as early as today so that" we can provide the new generation with the reliable source of energy, highlighted Salehi.
"The Leader has advised us to have 20-000 megawatts capacity for nuclear electricity". Salehi went on to explain that another characteristic is that the nuclear industry can be source of authority Iran.
Salehi concluded that for the very same reason the enemies are trying to steal this source of authority from us.
