The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has agreed to Egypt's proposal to establish a comprehensive national committee to manage the Gaza Strip.

Iran Press/West Asia: The Hamas delegation, after a series of meetings in Cairo aimed at achieving national unity among Palestinians, announced its agreement to Egypt's suggestion for forming a "Committee for the Support of Society" in Gaza, through inclusive mechanisms that reflect the participation of all Palestinian factions.

The Hamas delegation also held discussions with representatives of the Fatah Movement regarding the formation of a committee to manage Gaza as part of efforts to implement comprehensive national agreements aimed at strengthening unity and ending internal divisions.

Hamas reiterated its commitment to continue national efforts to find solutions that promote cooperation among Palestinian factions and expressed gratitude for Egypt’s role in supporting reconciliation between Palestinian groups.

According to the report, a document related to the agreement between Fatah and Hamas to form the "Committee for the Support of Gaza's People" has been released. This committee will manage Gaza in various sectors, including healthcare, education, economy, agriculture, and humanitarian aid. Its primary goal is to unify the efforts of Palestinian groups, address the impacts of the recent war, and oversee the reconstruction process under the Palestinian Authority.

The agreement specifies that the committee will be composed of 10 to 15 independent Palestinian figures of integrity and competence, and it will operate in accordance with Palestinian laws under the supervision and control of official authorities.

The agreement also highlights that the committee will begin its work following a final consensus among Palestinian factions in a meeting attended by various Palestinian parties, with the decision of the Palestinian Authority's president. The committee will remain in place until the reasons for its formation are resolved, or general elections or an alternative formula are agreed upon.

Additionally, the committee will manage Gaza's crossing points in coordination with the Palestinian Authority, reopen the Rafah crossing based on the 2005 agreement, and establish the International Reconstruction Fund for Gaza to ensure transparency under the oversight of donor countries.

The agreement also stresses that the committee's formation aims to preserve the territorial integrity of the occupied Palestinian lands and reject any actions that would separate Gaza from the rest of Palestine.

This agreement reflects ongoing efforts to achieve Palestinian national unity and unify the management of Gaza within a political and executive framework to address current challenges.
