Tehran (IP) - Veteran Guardian journalist Patrick Wintour, who is covering the parliamentary elections in Iran for Britain's Guardian newspaper has said that the presence of people at the ballot box is very important because it shows the degree of support for the government.

Iran PressIran news: In an exclusive interview with Iran Press on Friday, the veteran Guardian journalist Patrick Wintour said: "I am here to watch the elections and see what the people are thinking. And obviously elections to the parliament are incredibly important. And I think one of the big issues today is the number of people who turn out to vote, both in Tehran and nationally. It will show the degree of support there is for the government, and also for the different factions within the (Iranian) parliament."

Wintour added: "So it will be really interesting to see the results at the end of the day."
