Iran Press/Europe: Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis's New Democracy party won a landslide election on July 7, on pledges to cut taxes and boost growth in an economy which shrank during a prolong debt crisis, Iran Press citing European media reported.
The policy was approved by all 158 lawmakers of the ruling conservative party in the 300-seat parliament.
Representatives of the opposition political parties, while naming the program of the right-wing New Democracy conservative, considered the announced plans in line with the capitalist system and in opposition with the interests of the low-income groups.
Greece's economy shrank by 28 percent between 2008 and 2016, and massive unemployment has meant that many people are trapped in poverty.
Greece, in August 2018, officially left the EU loan and economic assistance program.
