Tehran (IP) - The chief executive officer (CEO) of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) announced the continuation of the gas swap from Turkmenistan to Iran.

In recent decades, this contract has been popularized by many countries that export and import goods, especially oil and gas and mineral resources.

Considering Iran's position in the region, swap contracts can provide the country's economic, political and security growth and development with the countries of the world, especially the neighboring countries.

Referring to the gas swap from Turkmenistan, the CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), Majid Chegani, said: "We are looking for direct gas import from this country with the consultations held with the Turkmen side."

The CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company added: "Negotiations for importing gas are underway, and we will import gas if the principles we are considering now continue positively in these negotiations and there are no problems."

Chegani also said: "We are negotiating with neighboring countries where there is the possiblity to import gas, one of which is Turkmenistan."

The CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company noted: "Turkmenistan's gas swap was interrupted and restarted because they had a technical problem inside the country, and now we are using it."
