Tehran (IP) - In a telephone call with Omani Foreign Minister on Thursday evening, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran stated that Iran emphasised regional dialogue and cooperation and said that the nations and states of the region must decide on the future of the region.

Iran PressIran news: Cooperation with neighbors is a priority of the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and in this context, the pursuit of ways to expand bilateral cooperation has been considered by the Iranian authorities and neighbors.

In this regard, Oman is one of the trusted neighboring countries and parties to dialogue and exchange of views with Iran on various issues.

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in this telephone call also stressed Tehran and Muscat's efforts to develop and deepen relations between the two countries, and the need to follow and implement various dimensions and agreements reached during the recent trip of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Oman.

Amir-Abdollahian further assessed the role of Oman in important regional developments and praised the country's efforts to establish peace, stability and cooperation in the region, including Muscat's efforts on the issue of Yemen.

In this telephone call, the Omani Foreign Minister, Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, considered the approach of the new administration of the Islamic Republic of Iran in developing relations with the countries of the region important and stated that Oman is serious about following up on the agreements reached during the recent visit of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Oman.

During the meeting, the two sides also discussed the latest status of the talks, focusing on the lifting of oppressive and illegal sanctions against Iran.

The Vienna talks have seen some progress due to the initiatives of the Iranian negotiating team, but the reluctance of the West, especially the Joe Biden administration, to compensate for the former US administration's illegal actions and the continuation of the maximum pressure campaign, has cast doubt on the country's seriousness to return the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and the talks has been prolonged.

The Islamic Republic of Iran, as a responsible country, has repeatedly stated that given that the United States is a party that violated the JCPOA, it is Washington that must return to the agreement with the lifting of sanctions, and that the fulfillment of US commitments needs to be verified.
