Iran Press/Iran news: Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Thursday morning will lead mass prayers for the Palestinian Mujahed and Palestinian Resistance Leader, Ismail Haniyeh at Tehran University.
The funeral ceremony started this morning at Tehran University at IRST 8:00.
Iran Parliament Speaker, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf delivers a speech at the ceremony as the keynote speaker.
Qalibaf said the Israeli regime is desperate in the face of resistance fighters and committed a “strategic mistake” if it thinks that targeting the resistance front will have an impact on the ongoing developments in the region.
He added that the Tel Aviv regime’s crimes are rooted in its inability to counter the resistance forces.
“It is our duty to react in the right place and at the right time,” he pointed out.
The Iranian speaker warned that the Israeli regime will pay a “heavy price” for its act of assassination.
The top Iranian parliamentarian emphasized that Israel will commit a “strategic mistake” if it thinks that targeting the resistance front will have an impact on the ongoing developments in the region.
Ismail Haniyeh was assassinated in an Israeli strike in Iran, where he had been attending the inauguration of the country's new president.
Heads of the three branches of the government, members of the Expediency Council, cabinet members, president's deputies, Members of Parliament, senior Iranian military commanders, Friday prayers leaders, provincial officials, and a huge number of Iranians from all walks of life attended the ceremony.
After Prayer, his funeral ceremony will take place from Tehran University to Azadi Square.
According to Hamas, Martyr Haniyah “will be given an official and public funeral ceremony in the Iranian capital, Tehran, tomorrow,” and his body would be transported to the Qatari capital later the same day.
Martyr Haniyah who was banned from entering Gaza, lived in Doha with his family.
The Hamas statement added the ceremony in Doha would be held “with popular and factional attendance and the participation of Arab and Islamic leaders.”
He was attacked at a residence in Tehran using an “airborne guided projectile,”
The attack occurred around 2 a.m. local time.
