Iran Press/ Africa: France and Algeria have been trying for several months to give new impetus to their relations after a serious diplomatic crisis. Algiers had indeed recalled its ambassador to Paris in October in reaction to remarks by President Macron affirming that Algeria, after its independence in 1962 which put an end to 132 years of French colonization, had been built on “a memorial annuity” maintained by “the politico-military system”.
The two Presidents Abdelmadjid Tebboune and French Emmanuel Macron expressed their desire to deepen relations between the two countries. The Algerian presidency said, in a statement, that the two presidents discussed, during a phone call, bilateral relations, affirming their determination to deepen their relations, especially after the re-election of Macron for a new term.
The call comes on the eve of the second round of the French parliamentary elections, which Macron seeks to enable him to obtain a parliamentary majority. 219
