Urmia (IP)- On Thursday, 1 June the first meeting between the governor-general of the Iranian provinces bordering the Iraqi Kurdistan region and the authorities of that region was held in Urmia, Western Azerbaijan, Iran.

in addition to "Ahmad Vahidi" the Minister of Interior of Iran, "Nasrullah Rashnoudi" Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Erbil, " Mohammad Rezvanifar " Director General of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration together with the Governors-General of West Azerbaijan, Kurdistan, and Kermanshah from Iran and their counterparts of Erbil, Dohuk, and Sulaymaniyah from Iraq are also present at the event. 

Interior Minister: U.S. & Zionist regimes are main enemies of Iran, Iraq ties

Iran and Iraq together can be very effective to form order in the region, but our enemies do not want it, says Iran's Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi. 

Speaking at the first meeting of governors-general from Iranian provinces bordering the Iraqi Kurdistan region in Urmia, Western Azerbaijan, Iran's interior minister stated that "the Zionist regime is the main enemy of good relations between Iran and Iraq. Whenever we talk about Islam, Muslims, and good neighborly relations, the regime is their main enemy."

The minister added that "the American regime is also against good relations between the two neighbors. America does not want nations to have relations with each other because if they have good relations, there will be no need for the U.S. to be present in the region."

Despite these oppositions, the minister noted that today, Iran and Iraq and their border provinces have very good and deep relations. "The message of this meeting is that the enemies' efforts to create a rift between Iranians and Iraqis have failed. Both sides are determined to progress for their people with a strong will."

Deputy FM for Economic Diplomacy: Iran hosts more than 1 million medical tourists

Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy Mahdi Safari said that the Islamic Republic of Iran hosted one million and 200 thousand people in the field of health tourism in the past year, which shows the high capacity of tourism in this field.

In this regard, according to Iran Press, "Mahdi Safari", Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy, on Thursday at the first meeting of the governors of the border provinces of Iran and the Iraqi Kurdistan region in Urmia, West Azarbaijan province (northwest of Iran), stating that 12 thousand foreign students who are currently studying in Iran, he said: "Seven thousands of these students are from India and most of them study in the field of medicine."

Stating that the priority of the 13th government of Iran is to cooperate with neighboring countries, Safari added:" Iran is at a very high level in the field of medicine and medical equipment and drugs, and is ready to cooperate with other countries in this field."

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran emphasized solving some problems on the Temerchin border of Piranshahr city and continued: "Iran's economic relations with the Kurdistan region of Iraq have increased by 15% in the past year, and we hope that this figure will increase to 100% by solving the problems."

West Azerbaijan GG: Meeting with high officials of Kurdistan region have positive result

The Governor General of Western Azerbaijan province said on Thursday morning that the political, economic, and cultural meetings in Erbil, Duhok, West Azarbaijan, and the independent administration of Raperin, as well as the meetings held with the high officials of the Kurdistan region, had positive effects and results.

He further added that Increasing the level of trade between the two sides, applying customs procedures at Temerchin Border crossing Station, removing restrictions on exports and transit, making the Temerchin border open 24 hours a day, eliminating transshipment in the exchange of some goods, reopening the passenger border in Sardasht and allowing pilgrims to pass through the Temerchin border for the first time In Arbaeen last year, it is one of the achievements of  Iran's regional diplomacy.

Motamedian further explained that from the suggestions made in the meetings with the regional and provincial officials, we will seek to hold exhibitions in the region to introduce the products of West Azerbaijan province.

The proposal to form a joint chamber of commerce between Erbil and West Azerbaijan, the establishment of a border economic zone between Temerchin and Haji Omeran (Haji Omeran, is a town located in Iraqi Kurdistan's Arbil province near the Iran–Iraq border.), the construction of Dry port in Erbil, Iraq to create a regional hub for the export of Iranian products to regional countries, the elimination of transshipment and the complete transportation of goods to Erbil and Urmia in order to smooth commercial exchanges and improve the capacity of Temerchin and Haji Omeran terminals, the readiness of West Azerbaijan to export technical and engineering services and skilled labor, the development of the tourism industry, especially health tourism, the reopening of new roads in the cities of Oshnavieh and Mirabad, among other suggestions which will be discussed in the afternoon meeting. 

Governor of Erbil: Iran has always supported Kurdistan region

Omid Abdulrahman Hasan Governor of Erbil says: We thank the Islamic Republic for always supporting the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

The governor of Erbil said: We had an economic crisis during Saddam's time, and the Islamic Republic was a very critical ally to us, and I thank you for its support.

"The Kurdistan region wants to have relations and mutual benefit with the Islamic Republic," the governor said, adding: "We want it to improve its relations with all neighboring countries, especially with Iran."

"We signed a memorandum of understanding last year, then expanded it and developed trade exchanges at the borders with a 16-point agreement,"  Omid Abdulrahman Hasan underscored.

"We will have meetings and agreements in the near future," noted the governor.
