Vienna (IP) - The Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the UN said that the fight against drug abuse must be formed within the framework of international cooperation.

Iran PressEurope: Kazem Gharibabadi said: "Iran had pursued a balanced and coordinated policy and we had been a pioneer in discovering the highest amounts of narcotics for many years."

In a meeting held on the occasion of International Day against Drug Abuse, Gharibabadi added: "The fight against drugs must be done through international cooperation, and the others should support."

ُSpeaking at a related meeting said: "Countries such as Iran have the main role in countering drug trafficking, but the target countries, especially the western countries, do not pay much attention to the issue."
