A pandemic of the novel coronavirus has now killed more than 328,000 people worldwide

World Health Organization said 106,000 new cases had been reported to them in the last 24 hours, the largest daily rise in global cases.

Iran PressEurope: The head of the World Health Organization has warned that the coronavirus pandemic is a long way from being over amid the largest daily rise in global cases.

Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has expressed particular concern about rising infections in low and middle-income nations.

The globe saw an increase of 106,000 COVID-19 cases on the last day. A pandemic of the novel coronavirus has now killed more than 328,000 people worldwide.

Over 4.9 million people across the globe have been diagnosed with COVID-19, the disease caused by the new respiratory virus, according to data compiled by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.

The actual numbers are believed to be much higher due to testing shortages, many unreported cases, and suspicions that some governments are hiding the scope of their nations' outbreaks.

Since the first cases were detected in China in December, the United States has become the worst-affected country, with more than 1.5 million diagnosed cases and at least 93,431 deaths.
