Tehran (IP) – Iran's president says the enemy seeks to create despair among people, urging all to create hope in the society.

Iran PressIran news: Ebrahim Raisi made the remarks Thursday at the opening ceremony of the National Conference on Jihad of Explanation at the Iran International Conference Center. 

He was referring to the role of foreign countries using their media to fuel the recent riots that have hit various Iranian provinces after a 22-year-old Kurdish woman named Mahsa Amini died in hospital despite intensive medical care and resuscitation efforts. 

Raisi said that today, Iran is facing a media war and it must create a defense structure to confront it.

The president stated that the Islamic culture has the Jihad of explanation, which the Leader of the Islamic Revolution had expressed and emphasized at some point.

Ebrahim Raisi said that according to the holy Qur'an, gossipers and liars are like hypocrites and infidels, and the role of liars and gossipers who want to shape perception and knowledge as they want is like hypocrites.

He added that these people are trying to change perceptions, exaggerate the weak points and depict the strong points as insignificant and undervalued. "This is the same media war that Iran is facing today. Today, there is no suitable tactic for this war in Iran."

President Raisi called on the informed people, managers and public relations officials across Iran to act well and avoid being passive in the face of the media war.

Underlining that it is vital to provide awareness, transparency and timely information and hope-giving information, he pointed out: "The enemy's strategy is promoting desperation; public relations and media must explain that 'we can'."
