Iranian MPs Akbar Ranjbarzadeh (L) and Farideh Olad Ghobad (R)

Tehran (IP)- An Iranian female lawmaker has said America's unilateral sanctions effectively target the health of women and children in Iran.

Iran Press/Iran news: Speaking in the open session of the Majlis (parliament) on Sunday 26 January, MP Farideh Olad Qobad noted that 15 Iranian children who suffered from EB disease, have died due to the US sanctions and subsequent lack of access to necessary services which made it impossible for them to receive the medication they needed.

Olad Ghobad also said US sanctions have a very harmful effect on the mental and physical health of Iranian women, and they can be considered as a form of violence against women.

Another Majlis lawmaker Akbar Ranjbarzadeh referred to the US economic war against the Iranian nation and stressed the internal management structures in Iran must be reformed in order to overcome the 'economic war' which is being waged against the country.

He said senior officials and managers need to put the country before themselves and make self-sacrifices, in order for us to gain victory and defeat the enemy.

Iranian MP Ranjbarzadeh called on the Iranian public to show their foresight and power in the upcoming parliamentary election on 21 February, with a massive turnout and voting for qualified and deserving candidates to serve as MPs.

Ranjbarzadeh said, the Iranian people, particularly young people, following the guidelines of the Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, will resist bullies and tyrants and expel them from this region.
