Iran's president has expressed hope that the Americans will end their misdeeds, but will face a more severe reaction if they take another action against Iran's interests.

Iran Press/Iran news: Hassan Rouhani made the remarks on Thursday in a phone call with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.

"Many of the dangerous issues in the region stem from illegal US sanctions. We hope that all friendly countries, with their proper stance on this illegal act, will force the United States to respect the laws," Rouhani added in the phone call initiated by his South African counterpart.

Iran's president stated that it was very important for the countries to take a stand on the assassination of Martyr General Qasem Soleimani.

He emphasized that Americans need to understand that the world does not accept that the US commits criminal acts.

Rouhani went on to say that in recent years, Lt. Gen. Soleimani has always fought with terrorist groups, especially ISIL. "The assassination of Lieutenant General Soleimani made the Iranian people more integrated and cohesive against the transgressor states."

He also referred to South Africa as a friendly country that has always been beside Iran, adding: "The Iranian people have always been friendly to the people of South Africa, especially during the fight against apartheid."

The President of South Africa, in turn, condoled the Iranian government and people, calling the assassination a cowardly action, saying that he was shocked to hear about the assassination of Gen. Suleimani, who was very popular among the people.
