Iran Press/ Iran News: Javad Owji stated: "Elites are considered as country's precious assets, hence it is our duty to care about and employ them, but unfortunately because they were not paid enough attention, most of them left the country."
Referring to Leader's emphasis on extending knowledge, export, resistive economy, entrepreneurship and increasing national income, Owji noted that knowledge-based companies could increase Iran's added value and currency.
"Iran has been extracting and producing oil for more than 115 years with conventional methods; hence, to create innovation and modernizing methods, and to increase oil wells' production, Knowledge- based companies are key factors," he said.
The minister called for optimizing energy consumption through knowledge-based companies and said: "Currently, 840 million cubic meters of sweet gas is injected into the country's gas network on a daily basis that should reach 1.2 billion cubic meters per day."
He pointed out that production has decreased from 50,000 barrels to 1,000 barrels in some oil wells; there can be an increase in this trend utilizing knowledge-based companies.
"The construction of each well costs 10 to 12 million dollars, while more than 700 existing wells can be used to increase production through using the capacities of knowledge-based companies," he added.
Owji announced that gas production and supply would increase from the next Iranian year to reach a capacity of 1.2 billion cubic meters per year.
"There is a 10 to 12 percent increase in gas consumption annually, and no matter how much the capacity increases, it will still not suffice; we must move towards optimizing consumption," he underlined.
Stating that there are 5,500 oil and gas wells on 400 fields in the country, he said: "By reviving low-efficiency wells, an annual production capacity of 80 million barrels of oil will be created with the least investment."
The Iranian Oil Ministry signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology on Monday to cooperate for establishing new technology parks.
The MoU aims to finance start-ups and knowledge-based companies in order to encourage them to meet the technological needs of the oil industry.
According to the agreement, the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology will allocate special incentives for supporting knowledge-based and creative companies in various areas, including registering domestic and international patents and trademarks.
