Iran Press/ Iran News: Addressing the correspondents on Friday after taking part in the 11th Round of Iran's Parliamentary Elections, Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi described the elections as the most important symbol of religious democracy and the manifestation of Iranian nations' select and will, stressing that the elections serve to be as the best antidote for countering the enemies' plots and seditions.
"Our country is based on people's will, the committed people who strongly believe in the religion are considered to be the most important components of power" which the top Judiciary official described as the key to enemies' disappointment.
Referring to the US efforts to discourage the Iranian nation, Raisi urged people's turnout in the polling stations to show their loyalty to the Islamic system as well as their duties.
In the end, he expressed hope that the voting would end up with a more powerful Parliament (Majlis) so that it gets to know people's dire needs and could solve their problems.
Polling stations in 207 constituencies across Iran opened at 8:00 am local time. After the polls close, counting will begin straight away.
Nearly 58 million people are eligible to vote on preselected lists of candidates for Iran's 11th parliamentary elections.
The Iranian Parliament, officially known as the Islamic Consultative Assembly, is a 290-seat legislative body with 207 constituencies. Its members are elected every four years, and former and current members can be re-elected.
On the other hand, the Assembly of Experts is a deliberative body of 88 theologians tasked with choosing the Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Members of the assembly are elected every eight years.
