Yerevan (IP) - The Yerevan manuscript museum known as the Matenadaran Museum Complex has 14 halls in which visitors get acquainted with the Quranic manuscripts.

Iran Press/Asia: There are three thousand manuscripts in Arabic in this hall, some of which are Quranic works.

The oldest Quranic manuscript is a Kufic script which has written on deerskin.

The oldest manuscript of the Quran dated from the eighth century BC, written in Kufic script and only one page of it has been put on display at the Exhibition.

According to an official at the museum, more than 100 Quranic manuscripts are kept at the museum, only a few of which are on public display.

"These Qurans are donated by individuals," one of the Museum officials said.

Alongside the manuscripts, the printed version of the Holy Quran, which is about the size of a knuckle, attracts visitors.

The Matenadaran Museum Complex is not only a place to store manuscripts of Islamic art but also a place for scholars to study these works, a contribution that will greatly aid research.
