Tehran (IP) - Deputy Health Minister stated that to date Iran has carried out over 35,000 outpatient tests to identify those with mild symptoms.

Iran PressIran News: Speaking at a press conference held via video conferencing on Monday, Alireza Raisi stated: “To date, we have performed 35,000 outpatient tests, which are approved by the World Health Organization (WHO). There is a formula in the world that we need to find positive COVID-19 people, even with mild symptoms, and identify people associated with them.”

"We have 369 sampling centers in the country, at this stage, we have to carry out 1.5 million outpatient tests. We must continue this process to fully control the disease," Raisi said.

"Our biggest concern is not the virus and the consequences of the disease but is the normalization of this disease. If people move towards normalization and think the disease is over, we will face problems,” he added.

"I ask people not to think that we can overcome the disease without observing health principles," Deputy Health Minister said.

The global death toll from the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has exceeded 200,000 with more than 3 million infections while more than 880,000 people have recovered from the disease so far.

According to the latest statistics, over 90,000 people in the country have been infected with the coronavirus, around 5,700 people have died due to the virus and nearly 70,000 of total infected people have recovered.
