Iran Press/ Iran news: On the sidelines of the cabinet session on Wednesday, September 13, Brigadier General Mohammad-Reza Ashtiani told reporters in response to a question about whether any war would happen between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia that the probability of such a war was very low.
General Ashtiani stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran would not tolerate any geopolitical change in the region and that its position on the issue of the Caucasus region is clear.
He pointed to the meetings of the Iran-Azerbaijan military commission and said the commission addressed how the Armenian and Azerbaijan could have a dialogue to settle their disputes.
"Nonetheless, both countries are our neighbors and are important to us, and we have close relations with both of them and continue our interactions," General Ashtiani added.
With regard to the deployment of Iran's armed forces in the northwestern border areas of the country, the Iranian defense minister said: "Surely, we have drills in the border areas and these drills are planned throughout the year and are carried out in different areas of the country over time."
