Iran Press/ Iran News: Parts of the Metropol building in Abadan collapsed last Monday, and firefighters, emergency services, and the Red Crescent Society from various provinces embarked on relief operations and debris removal.
Relief forces from Tehran and Kermanshah provinces are working along with relief forces from Khuzestan province to complete the debris removal process as soon as possible.
In an interview with Iran Press at the scene of the collapse, the Governor of Abadan and the official spokesman of the Metropol building incident, Ehsan Abbaspour, stated that the debris removal operation was being carried out at a faster pace after specialized forces in the field of structure and engineering system stabilized the building.
He expressed his condolences to the victims' families and the bereaved, saying that 26 people had died and 37 had been injured so far, 34 of whom had been discharged from the hospital.
Iranian Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi is still in Abadan, closely monitoring the debris removal process and other related matters.
First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber also visited the incident site on Friday and participated in a special meeting on the building collapse in the presence of the Interior Minister.
