Iran Press/Iran news: In an interview with channel one of Iranian television on Saturday night, rear admiral Habibollah Sayyari emphasized that during the past 40 years, virtually all of the systems, equipment, weaponry and hardware used by Iran's armed forces are domestically manufactured.
Rear Admiral Sayyari emphasized that the situation is very different now to what it was before the revolution, when all of Iran's military equipment were purchased from abroad and imported into the country.
He pointedly added: "We have no worries as far as military equipment and hardware is concerned. Our home-built weaponry is every bit as good, and with a comparable quality, to similar weapons manufactured in other countries."
The deputy chief coordinator of the Islamic Republic of Iran's army said: "The quality of Iranian-manufactured weapons are just as high as foreign-manufactured weapons."
In further comments rear admiral Sayyari talked of the readiness of Iran's armed forces to respond to any kind of threat, saying: "Iran's armed forces will never invade other countries, initiate an aggression, or threaten other countries' interests, but when the need arises for us to display our military might, to counter any threats against the Islamic Republic, we will certainly display our military power."
He added: "There is no serious military threat against Iran, and Iran's armed forces are today at the peak of their military power and authority, and are fully combat-ready."
Speaking in the same programme on channel one on Saturday night, Brigadier General Kiumars Heidari, the top commander of the ground forces of the Iranian army talked about the restructuring of the army's ground forces, saying the traditional structure has been changed and the ground forces are now divided into rapid reaction forces, mobile mechanised units, and mobile assault units.
