An aide to Iranian Foreign Minister, Hossein Jaberi Ansari discussed the latest developments in the Middle East with the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Mikhail Bogdanov late on Thursday.

Iran Press/ Europe: Iranian  Foreign Minister's special aide for political affairs Hossein Jaberi Ansari discussed the latest developments in the Middle East including Syria, Yemen and Libya with Russian President’s Special Representative for Middle East and African Countries, and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov. The meeting took place late on Thursday.

During the meeting, the two sides also discussed developments unfolding in Sudan and the occupied Palestinian lands, reported IRNA.

Jaberi Ansari who arrived in Moscow on Wednesday reviewed important regional issues with Russia's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Vershinin, and President Putin's Special Envoy for Syria Alexander Lavrentiev.

Jaberi Ansari stressed the need for maintaining trilateral cooperation among Iran, Russia and Turkey.

Commenting on his trip to Moscow, he said that Syrian and Yemeni developments as well as regional issues were explored in meetings with the Russian officials.

Vershinin, for his part, expressed pleasure over holding another session within the context of Tehran-Moscow regular dialogues, as the issues under discussion are very important.


Senior aide to the Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Jaberi Ansari who has traveled to Moscow to take part in consultations with Russian representatives, said on Wednesday that Moscow will soon host the trilateral summit but no date has been set.

Jaberi Ansari has arrived in Moscow for consultations with senior Russian officials during a two-day visit.

Hossein Jaberi Ansari deals with Syrian issues within Iran's foreign ministry, and represents Tehran at high-level meetings on Syria in Astana.

The presidents of Iran, Russia, and Turkey have previously held summits in the Russian resort city of Sochi, the Turkish capital Ankara and the Iranian capital Tehran.

Iran, alongside Russia and Turkey, is a guarantor of the ceasefire regime in Syria. The three guarantor states initiated the Astana Process on January 23, 2017, establishing de-escalation zones in an effort to restore calm in the region and improve the humanitarian situation in Syria.

The 4th tripartite summit will be held as US president Donald Trump in a shock announcement recently said he was pulling out some 2,000 American forces from Syria.  203/103
