EU foreign policy chief confirmed that a new text of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) had been finalized, and now parties need to make political decisions to conclude the deal.

Iran PressEurope: "What can be negotiated has been negotiated, and it’s now in a final text. However, behind every technical issue and every paragraph lies a political decision that needs to be taken in the capitals. If these answers are positive, then we can sign this deal," Josep Borrell tweeted on Monday.

The top EU diplomat noted that negotiators used recent days "to fine-tune and address - with technical adjustments - a handful of issues remaining in the text" during discussions and proximity talks between the United States and Iran.

The new round of negotiations started on Thursday, August 13, in Vienna.

The negotiations focused on lifting the oppressive and illegal sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran. The talks have experienced progress due to the initiatives of Iran's negotiating team. Still, the "Joe Biden" administration's procrastination to compensate for the previous US government's illegal actions and the continuation of the "Maximum Pressure Campaign" has led to doubts about the seriousness of the country's return to JCPOA. It has led to the prolongation of the process of talks. In 2018, then-US President Donald Trump unilaterally withdrew from JCPOA and reimposed cruel and unfair sanctions.

As a responsible country, the Islamic Republic of Iran has stated so many times that considering that the United States was the party that violated the JCPOA, it is Washington that should return to the agreement by lifting sanctions, and it is necessary to verify the implementation of US obligations.
