The NLC National President, in his remark in Abuja, said, "It has been five months now that the case ( universities strike) has not been resolved. That's why on 30th of last month, a meeting was held at the Labour House of the national Head Office, and the decision was unanimously taken, considering that all these trade unions on strike who have not been paid their salaries, who have not been attended by the Federal Government are members of the trade union of Nigeria Labour Congress, based on that, we see it as important to vehemently join them and even go ahead with today's protest as a number one step to call the attention of the Federal Government to address the issues ones and for all."
He added: "The issue of the strike has affected almost everyone because our children who are university students have been at home for quite a long time. Some of them might have even joined different unscrupulous groups that may lead them to perpetrate one action or the other. Therefore, education is essential."
