Finally, after discussions, fights and the opposition of a group of representatives, the Belgian parliament approved the treaty of mutual extradition of convicts with Iran.

Iran PressEurope: According to Iran press citing Radio France Internationale (RFI), Finally, after several postponements, the Belgian Parliament voted on the mutual extradition agreement with Iran at midnight on Wednesday, July 20, and approved it with 79 votes in favor, 41 against and 11 abstentions.

Two weeks ago, the Foreign Relations Commission of the Belgian Parliament approved the plan to exchange convicts between Iran and Belgium. For this plan to be implemented, the vote of the majority of parliamentarians was required.

But since three weeks ago, when the contents of the plan became known, intense debates started in the Belgian Parliament. At the same time, the opposition groups of the Islamic Republic strongly criticized this plan. But finally the approval of the plan, which was done late at midnight, indicates that the arguments for and against were very serious and long.
