Tehran (IP) - The member of the National Security Commission of Iran’s parliament regarding the US President's visit to the region and his baseless accusations about Iran, said: "This visit was a show and a way to advance the US’ internal needs."

Iran PressIran News: In an exclusive interview with Iran Press on the sidelines of the public session of the parliament, Abolfazl Amouei said: "This trip was made in order to reduce inflation in the US as the need for energy increased, and the arguments raised against Iran during this trip are completely baseless."

The MP stressed: "Iranophobia is useless, and we are pursuing our peaceful nuclear energy program."

Amouei added: "The US President Joe Biden is seeking to be accepted by the countries in the region by making baseless claims against Iran, while these countries know that Iran does not need nuclear weapons to maintain its position in the region."

He also pointed to the holding of the Astana meeting in Tehran in the coming days, saying: "In this meeting, which is being held for the sixth time, Iran, Russia and Turkey try to restore security in Syria, and their efforts has borne fruit in the past."

Amouei added: "Astana member states are willing to increase their cooperation in the fields where they have a common view in order to be able to move toward the upcoming security challenges."
