Bishkek (IP) – Iranian men's national ice hockey team defeated Malaysia to finish runner-up at the IIHF Division IV World Championship.

Iran PressAsia: The IIHF Division IV World Championship had commenced last Thursday with the participation of the Iranian national team and was hosted by Kyrgyzstan.

Following the IIHF Division IV World Championship, the Iranian men's national ice hockey team in its fourth match went against the powerful national team of Malaysia.

The Iranian team defeated Malaysia 7: 3 to win the silver medal and stood on the runner-up platform of the IIHF Division IV World Championship.

The Iranian national team first lost to the host team in its previous three matches and then defeated the teams of Singapore and Kuwait.

This is the first year of the Division IV tournament held for various teams, mainly playing in the World Championship competition for the first time. All six teams have played internationally before, but Iran was the only team without an official IIHF appearance.
