Iran Press/ Asia: "In this meeting, we will try to explore ways to help build lasting and inclusive peace and stability in Afghanistan and reach common operational strategies," Shamkhani told reporters arriving at New Delhi airport.
Shamkhani added: "Although the United States was expelled from Afghanistan after 20 years of occupation, it continues to create a crisis with a strategy of tension."
Expressing satisfaction with the increase of the countries participating in the forum, he said: "Holding the conference is a very good opportunity to pursue bilateral political and security talks between the countries of the region."
Shamkhani will also meet with his counterparts and discuss bilateral, regional, and international issues.
The forum will start on November 10 at the level of national security advisers and secretaries of security councils. It will be chaired by India’s National Security Adviser Shri Ajit Doval.
The first two editions of the event were hosted by Iran in 2018 and 2019.
The meeting will be attended by representatives from Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, according to India’s Ministry of External Affairs.
The high-level forum is expected to review the security situation in the region arising from recent developments in Afghanistan. It will also discuss measures to address the relevant security challenges and support the people of Afghanistan in promoting peace, security, and stability.
