Parliamentary Vice President:
Iran Parliamentary Vice President, Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini

Tehran(IP): Iran's parliamentary vice president said that Iran's becoming a permanent member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) marks the ineffectiveness of sanctions and the end of the era of unilateralism.

Iran PressIran news: Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini, Iran's Parliamentary Vice President on Saturday described Iran's bilateral relations with neighboring countries, especially with the SCO member and observer states, and the importance of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in today's world equations, adding: "Iran's becoming a permanent member of the SCO shows that the US threats are no longer effective, and we can say that the era of unilateralism is over because the SCO member countries cover a quarter of the world's land area and 43% of the world's population."

That means they have a population of more than 3 billion, which is a high capacity.

The Parliamentary Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran added: "When the West extended the sanctions, if we had surrendered, they would have achieved their goals, but we resisted, the people resisted and endured many hardships, and at the same time we were able to show power in the region."

Hosseini went on to say that the Westerners are upset by the current situation in Iran, adding: "As the East welcomes Iran and cooperates, the Westerners are upset, but this is a fact that they must accept."

The Parliamentary Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran further stated that Iran has many cultural commonalities with Tajikistan and that culture can soften the relations between the countries and provide an opportunity for economic and trade activities.

He said: "We must definitely use these capacities more and develop economic activities."

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is an international intergovernmental organization established in June 2001 in Shanghai, China by Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, with India and Pakistan joining in June 2017.

The Islamic Republic of Iran officially became a full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization on Friday.
