Iranian Parliament's open session kicks off

Tehran (IP) - The general points of the bill for obliging the executive bodies to respond to the written and oral reprimands of the Iranian parliament members were approved.

Iran PressIran news: Chaired by the Speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Iranian Parliament's open session started on Monday to continue the review of the report by the commission on standing orders about the double urgency plan on the necessity of the executive organizations to provide answers to the lawmakers' oral and written notifications, reported Iran Press.

During the review of the bill to oblige the executive bodies to respond to the written and oral reprimands of the MPs on Monday, the MPs approved the bill with 163 votes in favor, 60 against, and 5 abstentions from a total of 242 votes.

As one of the bill's opponents and despite agreeing with the general points of the bill, Alireza Salimi stated that the details had some drawbacks.

He noted that the parliament needs written reprimands, and it should not be up to the presiding board to determine the urgency of the MPs' notices.

As one of the proponents of the bill, the representative of Shiraz, Jafar Qaderi, also stated: "The response of the ministries and the president to the reprimands reduces impeachment and questioning, which some ministries are currently doing, but it is optional and the goal is to make it mandatory for all executive bodies."
