The heads of the parliamentary friendship groups of Iran and Portugal emphasized the expansion of bilateral relations in various fields.

Iran PressIran News: In a video meeting the heads of the parliamentary friendship groups of Iran and Portugal held on Friday, both sides discussed the regional and international issues including the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). 

The Chairman of Iran-Portugal friendship of the Iranian parliament Jalil Rahimi Jahan Abad pointed to the two countries' potentials for beneficial economic cooperation and stressed further efforts to strengthen the trade cooperation between the two countries. 

Luis Grasa, Chairman of the Parliamentary Friendship Group between Portugal and Iran for his part considered cooperation with Iran, especially parliamentary relations, of high importance with regard to the historical background and friendly relations of the two countries. 

He criticized the US sanctions on Iran as an unhumanitarian weapon against the Iranian nation and expressed hope that with the revival of the JCPOA the sanctions were soon removed and so that Iran could resume economic ties with Europe, especially Portugal.  

Grasa invited his Iranian counterpart to visit Portugal while expressing his readiness to visit Iran. 

In the meeting, it was agreed that the parliamentary delegations of the two countries would be exchanged in the current year. 219
