Iran PressEurope: The Russian presidential palace announced Tuesday night in the Swiss city of Geneva that it will host the first meeting between the US and Russian presidents and noting that the meeting will take place on June 16.

The White House also said in a statement that Biden would meet with Putin on June 16 in Geneva, Switzerland.

According to the White House, the two leaders will discuss a wide range of important issues, particularly the restoration of stability in US-Russian relations.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Sunday that the meeting between Putin and Biden was important for US-Russian relations.

In a telephone conversation with Putin, Biden offered to meet with his Russian counterpart.

Following this request, a number of countries announced that they were ready to host such an event.

Tensions between Russia and the United States have risen in recent months as Washington continues to accuse Russia and impose sanctions on Moscow under various pretexts.

Recently, Biden called Putin a killer in interviews and said he should pay the price for his actions.

Russia's president also recently signed a decree obliging the Russian government to respond to the unfriendly actions of Western countries. 219
