In the murder trial of a former Minneapolis police officer, the US jury found him guilty on Tuesday in the killing of George Floyd last May.

Iran Press/America: The 45-year-old  Derek Chauvin was found guilty of second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.

After a three-week trial and 10 hours of deliberation during the past two days, the 12-person jury, consisting of six white and six Black or multiracial men and women, concluded that Chauvin was guilty of all three charges.

Chauvin’s bail was immediately revoked, and he was escorted out of the courtroom with his hands cuffed behind his back. He will face sentencing in eight weeks and could be sent to prison for decades.

According to Al Jazeera, Crowds gathered in Minneapolis cheered as the guilty verdict was read.

Shouts of “Say his name! George Floyd!” and “Guilty on all three!” were heard among the crowd.

Moreover, “Justice for Black America is justice for all of America,” the Floyd family’s lawyer Benjamin Crump said in a statement, the Reuters news agency reported.
