UN reacts passively to attacked Iranian ship

In a passive reaction, the UN spokesman called for 'maximum restraint' in the Middle East after an explosion on an Iranian ship 'Saviz' in the Red Sea.

Iran PressAmerica: Stephane Dujarric said on Wednesday that though the circumstances of the event remain unclear, the countries involved must exercise maximum restraint and refrain from taking any intensifying actions.

The UN response comes as Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz indirectly posed threats against the Islamic Republic of Iran in response to a question about allegations that the regime had attacked the Iranian ship 'Saviz' in the Red Sea.

An Iranian cargo ship stationed in the Red Sea was damaged by a mine attack on Tuesday.

According to New York Times, an American official said the Israelis had notified the United States that its forces had struck the vessel at about 7:30 a.m. local time.
