Tehran (IP) - The head of Iran's Central Bank stressed that the currency needs of the country would be provided regardless of the US sabotages and the blocked sources.

Iran PressIran News: Abdulnaser Hemmati reacted on Thursday to the claims of the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken over the ban on the release of Iran's money blocked in South Korea, and wrote on his Instagram page: "CBI has set its agenda to supply the country's currency needs".

"It was clear from the beginning that the South Korean government had no independent will to solve the problem of Iran's foreign exchange resources," Hemmati pointed out.

The Iranian top banking official said supplying currency for basic goods, medicines, and medical equipment was ongoing.

He noted that from the beginning of the current Persian year, the CBI managed to supply $10 billion of preferential foreign exchange for providing basic goods, agricultural inputs, medicine, and medical equipment, adding that $24 billion was supplied for the country's import through non-oil export.

The US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the report on the release of Iranian blocked property in various countries was not true.

Blinken said the release of Iranian property from South Korea would be possible only if Iran turned back to compliance with the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

The US unilaterally withdrew the internationally signed JCPOA on May 8, 2018.
