Zarif, confer on latest regional development

Tehran (IP) - The foreign ministers of Iran and Syria discussed bilateral relations and regional and international developments.

Iran PressIran news: According to Iran Press on Friday, in a telephone conversation with Faisal al- Mekdad, Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif discussed bilateral relations and ways to expand them in various fields, especially in the field of economic cooperation.

The two sides also discussed developments in Syria, Iran, the region, and the world.

Zarif and al-Mekdad also discussed the results of recent meetings based on the Astana talks in the Russian city of Sochi and consultations between various delegations to overcome obstacles created by some Western countries against the return of security and stability to Syria.

In this regard, the two sides stressed the need for the West to adhere to the Security Council resolutions on Syria and the final statement of the Astana meetings, and the need to respect the sovereignty and independence of Syria and its territorial integrity.
